You will be working alongside a global infrastructure equipment vendor delivering multiple customer-facing deployment projects as part of a multi-national team with global reach. In this role, the project manager will be focusing on ensuring the success of customer deployments, managing the planning and execution of optimization efforts, and coordinating the interaction of internal, partner and customer resources toward the completion of key services projects.

Key objectives:

• This position requires a strong knowledge of Cisco technologies and solutions, as well as an ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously including the management of timelines, budgets and resources.

Key experience:

Times are changing for the fast growing, well-educated, high-tech savvy global middle-class.

Information technology combined with new agreements between the individual and the organisation is creating a more flexible, more mobile, more productive work universe, free from time, space, people and tool constraints.

New context

With the Internet now counting 8.32 billion indexed pages on the Internet as of 31 January 2012 and expected to reach 966 exabytes of info by 2015, according to Cisco, the work universe (we can’t really talk about workplace anymore) is now characterised by :

None of the changes appearing in working practices would be possible however without deep shifts in work culture and a redefinition of the basic agreements between the individual and the organisation.

The main change is the shift in focus from employee attendance to employee output.

This has unlocked new agreements around team collaboration and communication and allowed the development of new meeting styles less reliant on physical presence in one space. This in turn has paved the way for the expansion of smart flexible workplaces, or workhubs, where hotdesking and videoconferencing are part of everyday life.

For the first time since papyrus, data and information have broken away from paper.  This is leading to the emergence of a new global free agent, with redefined, broadened definition of workplace, worktime and allegiance to organisations (employees becoming more entrepreneurs or ‘entreployee’ as they have become known, homebased entrepreneurs, contractors), who owns and brings his work tools (‘Bring Your Own Devices’ trend).

This deep shift calls for new approaches to data security and drives organisations to invent more flexible ways to assert its ownership and control over work data. Mobile device management is now on every large organisation’s agenda.

CIOs are seeking the best way to allow users to bring their own devices to work, use them on the corporate wireless network and manage the devices correctly. IT managers need to know how many devices are on the network, be able to remotely wipe lost or stolen devices, take appropriate measures in case of breach of the Acceptable Use Policy, or create an “In-Company App Store” where users can download company-approved apps onto their phone.

New trends
